In the past few years racial separation was finally pacified by leaders who wanted peace among races and people not letting race control their actions.
It would be more accurate use of this word to say that the tensions stemming from separation have been pacified. You cannot pacify separation. Instead, you can ease, dissolve or reduce separation. To PACIFY is to calm, and separation can cause a condition or feeling that needs calming.
